Getting ready for Christmas

Why is everybody so tired?
We've been getting ready for Christmas. Decorating, parties, recitals, etc. This is actually the kids decorating the tree and not a staged photo of them by the tree when it is clearly already decorated.Katie had her dance recital on Saturday. It makes me a little uncomfortable putting this much makeup on my 5 year old but what can you do. They did dances from the Nutcracker. It was wonderful.

I did tell Katie to smile. Here and during her dance...but she refused. I think she was concentrating pretty hard. She did really well though. This is the video from the dress rehearsal. I was able to be a little more obnoxious about getting close to the stage during the rehearsal so this ended up being a better video.

Tommy had his piano recital on Monday. He just started lessons in September. He did such a great job! I was so proud of him.

I am just so thankful to have time to spend with the family. The kids are growing up so fast and we are loving every minute. Merry Christmas!

First flight

Yesterday we took the kids flying in a Cessna 172 for the first time. They were excited to go and it was really fun. It was such a pretty day, we thought it was about time we took them up.
They loved talking on the headsets. They kept saying, "Do you read me?" and "Yes, I have you loud and clear". Where do they get this stuff?

Tis the season...for performing

Last week was so busy. It started off Sunday with the Primary program at church. It was so cute. All of the kids did really well. They sang songs and each child had a speaking part as well. Tommy and Katie were so cute. Tommy was student of the month and we got to go eat lunch with him on Tuesday. Then he performed the nutcracker with the rest of the first grade that night. Katie had a celebration at her preschool too.
Katie decorated this lovely vest and made the head band. Her preschool performed some Thanksgiving songs and then we got to watch them eat a feast. I told Katie we would just be watching and she said, "You're going to WATCH me eat?" It was cute.
No boring pictures for us... Then the Indians sat down with the other Indians and ate a feast. I think the pilgrims were at a different table. Tommy's performance was so cute too. I didn't know there were words to these songs...

Here is Tommy with the mouse king.
