We finally took the kids fishing. We went to Farish which is a beautiful recreation area owned by the Air Force Academy. We have been to little ponds at parks before but this was the first time where everyone had real hooks and worms. Speaking of real hooks, we lectured the kids about being safe and who is the only person to end up with a hook in a finger? That's right, me. I yelled to Mike that I had a hook in my finger and he kept on fishing. I thought he hadn't heard me so I yelled again. He said, "I know , just a minute". He finally looked at it and said, "Oh that's nothing". I guess he's had worse. He said he didn't react very quickly because I wasn't screaming enough for it to be serious. So he yanked it out and we kept on fishing. We had to contend with some rain and thunderstorms but we all still had a really great time.
It takes a real man to use a princess pole.

That's more like it.

Tommy's first fish. He was very disappointed that we had to throw it back. As you can see, it isn't huge but he was very excited.

The kids had fun exploring in the woods and climbing on these big rocks. I was pretty into fishing so I'm glad they kept themselves safe.

Doesn't she look like a real fisherman?

The puppy was frustrated that he had to be on a leash the whole time. He's not at all used to a harness or anything. I think he wanted to explore too but since a chipmunk could take him, we had to keep him close.

What a perfect day.

If you were good parents you would have let Tommy keep the fish even if it was too small. Your husband is a wimp...a Disney Princess fishing pole. Really? Other than that good post...I guess.
