Stanley Canyon Trail

Last week we went for a hike on the Stanley Canyon Trail. There are a lot of great trails on the Air Force Academy and this is one of them. This was our first time on the trail. Tommy and Katie did so well on the hike, they really impressed us. There was a large group of adults and children behind us. Tommy didn't want to let them catch up for anything. Every time they got close, he would say, "Hurry, they're going to get us!" and take off running. When we got close to the top, there was a waterfall and some small pools that the kids played in. Tommy played with the other hikers, I guess he decided it was OK to not outrun them for a while. Tommy walked the entire way and Katie only had to be carried for a small part of the trail. Some parts made us a little nervous for the kids. Katie thinks she can fly I think and didn't mind getting right to the edge of the trail that dropped off the side of the mountain. I had to keep after her to stay close to the other side. I really can't believe she is only two. Neither can she. We all had a great time and will probably go back soon. See how many pictures Tommy is making a Mick Jagger pose in.

Tommy is at the very top of the trail, well ahead of us all!

It was a beautiful hike. The views were well worth the effort to get there.
